I find that it is always more effective to teach principles to children using illustrations, arts and crafts and object lessons. Many of the children in our care speak isiZulu and Xhosa as their first language. Therefore, visual aids play a very important part when we plan a lesson.
One of the Christlike character traits we impart to the children is the principle of Attentiveness. The points we focus on are:
1. The importance of listening listening and hearing.
2. Being attentive to God and the authorities he has placed over our lives.
2. We show how much we value what is being said by giving undivided concentration to the words of the speaker as we sit up, lean forward, and concentrate on what is being said.
We also, use the strong sensors of various animals to help the children understand important the principle. The animals depend on these senses to survive. Likewise, our spiritual senses help use stay away from danger.
I would like like to share an activity that I use when illustrating this principle. I found this online a fews years ago and love it because its simple and you don't need too much to execute it. Below are the steps. I hope this is useful and you have heaps of fun with your children when making the ears.
What you will need:
1. Paper plate
2. Scissors
3. Crayons or colour pencils
